Well, it's late summer and boy is it HOT here! LOL! But for some odd reason, neither the heat nor the humidity is getting to me. The only reason I can come up with is that after all the years in Seattle, I'm still thawing out. :)
Things I've been thinking about:
- Black Amercans really took ownership of the "N" word. That word used to be used exclusively by whites in a negative way and was a source of pain for them. The ownership of that word has transitioned so effectively, that today Black Americans now own that word, and whites dare not utter it. Black America should now to do the same thing with the Union Jack flag. Many find the display of that flag to be a negative statement, to someone that yearns for the old times, which weren't so good for some. So, like they did with the "N" word, they need to now do with the Southern flag flown during the Civil War. Sean Jean, Phat Farm, etc. should include it as a logo in their new line of clothing; Akon should include it on his next CD cover. They should OWN it. Then, when scary looking skinny white folks in big pickup trucks fly them in their truck beds, it will be seen as a sign of unity.
- I just got back from my yearly trip to Boston, and boy did I enjoy it. I got to see my best friend and Brother and his amazingly cool wife. Most remarkably, I got to attend a yearly association meeting that motivates and recharges me like no other single experience. There is simply no better or more important trip that I make every year. It's going to be a great Theo-Year. :) There's a lot of work for me to do, but I'm armed and ready.
