    So, Whatchyoo been up to?

    Well, it's been HOT here.  :)  It's funny, since moving from Seattle, I've really been loving the change of weather.  Having sun drench my windows every morning has really been nice.  But, as I say, it's been hot.  So hot lately (mid 80's at 8am!) that I'm no longer running my 3-4 miles in the mornings.  And I'm pretty tough with the hot/humid weather - I ran all last August and September, and all Spring was running a 1 mile massive uphill in the middle of my 4.4 mile run -- even on hot days!  BUT, I finally gave in and joined a gym.  I'd forgotten how fun it was to do aerobics!  I'm taking five classes during the week, each one hour, and then working out on the weight machines M, W, and F. 
     
    Here's the gig:
      • M: Anything Step.  This one's really intense.  It's on the steps, and is a GREAT way to start off the week.  I work *really* hard.
      • T: CardioBall.  With this one you have two balls, a small 3lb ball, and a huge ball.  You do floor work for 45 mins with the small ball in your hands above your heart, moving it around as you move your body.  Just reading that, it would seem like no workout, but all the time the ball is above your heart, your increasing your heartrate.  Trust me -- It's a workout.  Then, we go to the big balls against the wall, and on the floor, doing various wacky things.  Oddly, that's even harder!  Today, the instructor asked everyone if we all had balls (we're running out of having enough for everyone).  I said, "No.  We're girls.  We don't have balls."  It's the Bible belt.  No one laughed.  Someone's gonna preach to me if I'm not careful. 
      • Note: I think I'll coin a new term here:  "Bible Slap".  This is the Bible belt.  They don't Bitch-Slap you here; they Bible Slap you.  =:o
      • W:  Spin.  Now tomorrow is my first Spin class.  Ever.  The teacher is known for her cruelty.  I think I'll like it.  If you don't hear from me tomorrow, I'm probably dead. 
      • Th:  Cardio Step.  This class is kinda disappointing - it's too dancy to be a good workout.  It's probably my least favorite.  Maybe I'll go to an earlier class instead if this one doesn't improve.
      • F:  Tred and Shed.  Oh Dear.  What can I say about this class?  It's on the treadmill, we each get our own and it's led by a bubbly little Hitler-youth-of-an-instructor.  It's running for 50 mins at all different speeds and inclines.  I worked off 540 cals last Friday.  She has us run a "Run", "Fast Run" and a "Sprint".  My sprint is at 7mph.  Yeah, I'm a cow.  WhatEVER!  Still, sweat was flying off my body and splattering all over the machine.  That is THE WAY to begin the weekend.
    Anyway, I'm having a lot of fun.  :D  I don't miss running; my legs are stronger and my knees don't hurt like they used to.  I don't know why I ever stopped with the aerobics before...?
